Abuja – A group called Cabinet X Africa Initiative on Wednesday said Calabar and Dubai were selected as takeoff points for the nationwide and global campaigns for the Nigeria Identity Project.
This is contained in a statement issued in Abuja by the Coordinator of the Project, Mr Isaac Balami.
He said the exhibition of an art work produced by a group of 37 artistes representing all states of the federation and the FCT would be the highpoint of the nationwide and global tour.
According to him, the art work will be handed over to President Muhammadu Buhari at the State House on Oct. 1 as part of the 2016 independence anniversary programme.
He said that though no date had been fixed for the national and international tour and exhibition of the art work, venues have been confirmed by stakeholders.
He added that the New Nigeria Identity Project, which was being exhibited in the Nigeria Rebirth art piece was the biggest unity art work in Africa.
Balami stated that the project team would showcase the new Nigerian concept in 20 countries, as well as the 36 states of the federation and the FCT.
The coordinator noted that the tour would build unity among Nigerians and create positive impressions about Nigeria globally.
“The tour across the globe will restore hope and faith of Nigerians in the Diaspora to bring back home their expertise and knowledge toward building the new Nigeria of our collective dream.
“The tour of 36 states is to support the state governments to harmonise their areas of economic advantages and to raise awareness among Nigerians.
“After showcasing the new Nigeria to the world, the art work will be handed over to President Muhammadu Buhari on Oct 1,’’ he said.
It will be recalled that the wife of the Vice President, Mrs Dolapo Osinbajo, had at an elaborate ceremony inaugurated the project at the State House in Abuja on March 17.
Mrs Osinbajo represented the wife of the President, Hajiya Aisha Buhari, the grand patron of the project.
The event was attended by many dignitaries, including chief executives of multinational organisations, top government functionaries with their spouses and other stakeholders.
She expressed optimism that the project would impact positively on the economy and in the lives of Nigerians.
She stated that African countries were looking up to Nigeria for positive change, affirming that once Nigeria attained transformation, the entire continent would emulate.
