BENIN CITY- The Edo State House of Assembly has directed the chairmen of eight Local Government Councils in the state to appear before the Speaker, Hon Victor Edoror today at 10am for an undisclosed reason.
Giving the directive during yesterday’s plenary, the Deputy Speaker of the House, Hon. Bright Osayande named the concerned local governments as, Etsako-East, Etsako-West, Etsako Central, Esan-North-East, Uhunmwode, Ordeo, Orhionmwon and Egor.
During the plenary session, the House congratulated the State Governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole on his birthday anniversary.
The Deputy Speaker who presided over the session said the entire parliament joins the people of the state to felicitate with the governor on the auspicious occasion of the celebration of the governor’s birthday.
Meanwhile, the State House of Assembly has adopted a resolution calling on Oil Serve Limited  Company to honour the agreement reached through its Public Relation Officer, Mr. Jaja. M.I by paying the balance of N50,000 to a petitioner, Mr. Clement Obayuwana.
The House also sanctioned the company for failing to respond to series of letters requesting the company to appear before the House committee.
The resolutions also directed Mr. John Obasohan, the contact man on site for Oil Serve Company Limited and the elders of Ureghu community in Orhionmwon Local Government Area to stop the vendetta against the petitioner.
The adoption of the resolution was sequel to the consideration of the report by the  House Standing Committee on Environment on a petition titled. “Breach of Fundamental Rights-demand for Compensation” dated August 12, 2015 and   signed by F.E. Akoko (Esq).
During consideration of the report at the committee of the whole, findings revealed that Mr. Clement Obayuwana was brutalized, with his left eye badly damaged and the matter reported at Igwelaba Police Station.
The finding also indicated that Oil Serve Company Limited agreed to pay for the medical bill of the petitioner for which evidence showed that Mr. Obayuwana collected N200,000 out of the N250,000 compensation for his medical bills.
The findings of the report also indicated that the contact man on site, misled the elders of Ureghu community that the N250,000 was meant for the elders.
Parliament at the committee of the whole unanimously adopted the two-point× recommendations of the report.
