BENIN CITY – Since about a year the bloody land dispute in Aruogba Community in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State claimed the life of the Community Development Association (Chairman), Mr. Okoro Ogbaretin, the crisis still linger on as the late CDA chairman’s Father inlaw has also been shot dead in his own house recently.

According to a very reliable family source, close to the family of the late chairman’s father in law, an octogenarian, who wouldn’t want his identity revealed for the fear of being targeted too, that narrated the story to the Nigerian OBSERVER crime desk, said the genesis of the whole issue started sometime early last year, January 11,2015.

It will be recalled that after the CDA chairman was killed by his assailants, during the bloody land tussle, they also threatened to wipe out his generation totally, particularly his wife. Since then they have been trailing the wife as a potential target.

The wife, Onabor Omoregie Happy for fear of the continuous existence of her dear life, had to relocate to her own father’s house to be living with the parents, with a view to resettle her life again after recuperation.

Hoping that every situation was becoming okay, another tragedy struck again as the father’s house was attacked on March 3, 2016. When the assailants traced her there and couldn’t see her in the room she was sleeping that night, they shot her father dead and still vowed to get her dead or alive before leaving.

The source added that after the attack and killing of her father, the poor innocent Onabor Omoregie Happy now know that her life is no longer safe, as the next main target. She then escaped to Auchi in Edo north, hoping that was quite a distance they may not detect easily.

But unfortunately for her, the friend she ran to at Auchi to harbour her also refused her, because of her fearful predicament, saying she was afraid of those community thugs and cultists because of their dreaded and deadly tendencies. Thinking that they may come for her if they `discover and trace her there to Auchi.

It was also revealed that about two weeks later the assailants stormed the Onabor family house again in search of their main target Happy Onabor. But this time, only her brother Endurance Onabor, who is a student was present at home and was lucky to have immediately escape through the back door on sighting them from a distance.

This time, angered by not meeting their target at home, after ransacking the entire house, they set the house ablaze. They shot sporadically into the air to scare people, while close neighbors scampered for safety that early morning.

Since then nothing has been heard about Happy Onabor. Nobody has ever seen her around.
Ironically, whether she is still hiding some where in Auchi or also have successfully escaped from there to another unknown destination in the country no one can say.

The source further appealed to all concerned authorities and Godly spirited people to please help to safeguard and protect the life of the innocent Onabor Omoregie Happy, who is just a victim of circumstance if found.

He regretted that the saddest aspect of it all is that, even if the matter is reported to the police, they won’t do anything because of the corruption of bribing the police hierarchy at the top and nearness to the politicians in power.
