BENIN CITY – The Edo State House of Assembly has adopted a resolution to enable the state government access N366,467.597.77k bailout fund from the Central Bank for Egor Local Government Council.
The resolution was sequel to the consideration of the state Governor’s request as contained in a letter dated June 6, 2016 and endorsed by Secretary to the State Government, Professor Julius Ihonvbere.
It was titled: “Request for the resolution of Edo State House of Assembly for the state government to access bailout fund from the Central Bank for Egor Local Government Council area.”
Moving the motion for the consideration of the governor’s request yesterday during plenary at the Committee of the Whole, the majority leader, Hon. Foly Ogendegbe said that Egor local government area was inadvertently omitted from the bailout funds earlier accessed from the Central Bank of Nigeria.
He said that the essence of the letter from the Governor was to enable the government access the bailout funds through a resolution of the House.
Also speaking, the Lawmaker representing Egor constituency, Hon. Crosby Eribo expressed appreciation over the response of the state governor in its efforts to pay outstanding arrears of salary workers of the council, but however regretted that many families and workers have died owing to the delay in the payment of salaries in the council for the past 16 months.
Also during plenary yesterday, Mr. Kerry Prince Emokpaire and Mrs. Oluronke Ojeikere were both confirmed as commissioner designate in the state.
Also confirm was the member representing the Civil Society Organization in the state Public Procurement Agency.
