BENIN CITY– Isuerhanfua Traditional Ceremony was yesterday performed at the Palace of the Oba of Benin to climax the funeral rites of the departed Oba of Benin Kingdom, HRM Oba Erediauwa, who recently joined the ancestors.

It would be recalled that the Benin Traditional Council (BTC), through the Iyase of Benin, Chief Sam Igbe announced on April 29, 2016, that the Oba has joined his ancestors, after the symbolic breaking of Native Chalk in the palace.

The NIGERIAN OBSERVER, reliably gathered that the funeral rites of the late Oba, began about two weeks ago, which culminated in the performance of several traditional rites by the Benin Royal family, especially the Edaiken N’Uselu and Heir apparent to the throne, of Benin Kingdom HRH (Amb) Eheneden Erediauwa, yesterday however marked the  end of the successful funeral rites for the departed Oba, with the performance of the Isuerhanfua traditional rites as commendations and prayers pour in for the Edaiken N’Uselu.

The Edaiken N’Uselu and the Heir apparent to the throne of Benin Kingdom, had been praised for the successful burial rites of his late father, HRM Oba Erediauwa the 38th Oba of Benin Kingdom who ruled for 37 years.

Speaking with The NIGERIAN OBSERVER at the palace of the Oba of Benin, the Chairman of Akugbe Ventures, a tax consultant firm to the Edo State Government, Comrade Tony Kabaka Adun, described the successful funeral of the departed Oba as not only unique, but historic, especially in view of the ways it was coordinated without any hindrance.

He said that the trooping of people from different walks of life to catch the glimse of the traditional rites was a testimonial that the Benin Royal family and the people of Benin Kingdom are loved, noting that the Benin Kingdom remains the most articulated and organised kingdom in the world.

He, however, prayed God and the ancestors to protect, direct and give abundant wisdom to the Edaiken N’Uselu and family, with good health to enable him transform the kingdom to greater height, especially as he prepares for the conronation process which is to be announced soon.

He congratulated the Edaiken N’Uselu, Benin Royal family as the people of Benin Kingdom for the successful burial rites of the great monarch saying that the Oba’s exemplary leadership in the kingdom shall remain indelible in the mind of the people.

He therefore urged the people to pray and support the Edaiken N’Uselu to enable him commence the coronation process and assume the ancestral throne with good health and abundant wisdom.
