UROMI-Edo State Governor Adams Oshiomhole has commissioned a block of four classrooms with Staff room and principal’s office, built, furnished and donated by the Managing Director of Intercontinental Distillers Limited, Chief Patrick Anegbe at Efandion Secondary School, Uromi-Edo State.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Comrade Oshiomhole described the structure as befitting and conducive modern learning environment.

The governor who was represented by his commissioner for Budget Planning and Development, Hon. Lawrence Aghedo, eulogized the donor for the gesture, saying it will assist the government in its avowed commitment to providing quality and efficient education for the children of the state.

He explained that since government alone could not provide all facilities required to train the children, supports from individuals, corporate bodies and others, were necessary to meet the goal of providing conducive learning environment for students in the state.

He charged the students to use the facility with care and caution, while appealing to other well meaning individuals to emulate Engr. Anegbe in the area of education or health.

The governor, instantly promised to order the contractor handling the near completed classrooms block in the secondary back to site, while responding to the appeal from the school principal.

In his speech, the donor, Engr. Anegbe revealed that the gesture was spurred by his realization that education was the yoke that breaks the bondage of illiteracy, hence the gesture in his native community.

“My belief is that you may give silver and gold, but these have temporary sustainability but if you give a child good education you have given that child enduring and sustainable foundation in life. My humble self is a good testimony of this fact”, he said.

The donor was however quick to remark that he is not a politician and has no intention to be one, asserting that his gesture therefore has no political interpretations, but his way of saying thank you to his community for their care and love.

The principal of Efandion Secondary School, Mr. F. A. Eyieyie equally appreciated the donor for gesture, and called for more assistance from other individuals to connect the school to national electricity grid, computerization of the school, provision of library and laboratory, security guards for the school, among others.
