BENIN CITY-The Chairman of the on-going police recruitment, Benin zone AIG Bala Hassan has assured applicants of fairness and equity in the screening process holding at Police Training College, Ogida, Benin City.

He gave the assurance during an exclusive chat with our reporter who visited the screening centre, yesterday.

AIG Bala Hassan, a one time commissioner of police in Edo State noted that “They are our children, we will ensure fairness to all of them.

“We have warned all our staff to shun any act of favouritism or nepotism or any act that would jeopardize the integrity of the process.

He disclosed that some of the applicants have the fitness and academic qualification and shown readiness to do the job.

“Some have very good physique, I have just examined their certificates, some have second class upper certificates.

“These are the kind of brains we want them to come and take over so that Nigeria will be the best for everybody.

Over 4,300 of the 9,390 applicants of Edo State origin have been screened in the recruitment generally adjudged peaceful and stress-free.

A total of 700 applicants of comprising of 500 constables, 100 Inspectors and 100 Assistant-Superintendent of Police (ASP) would be shortlisted for the second stage of the recruitment process.

Some applicants who spoke with our reporter shortly after they were screened described the exercise as smooth and expressed confidence in the outcome of the screening.

“As you can see, everybody is orderly, the place is not rowdy, no push me I push you or Na me first come, I nor meet you here. You know as e dey be for recruitment or screening ground. An applicant stated.

On the team of AIG Bala Hassan supervising Benin Zone made up of Edo, Delta and Bayelsa States is Mr Foluso Adebanjo was also a commissioner of police in Edo State.
