BENIN CITY – Edo State Governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole has commended the Federal Government for its commitment and effort towards relocating the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) back to their communities reclaimed by the Armed Forces.
He gave the commendation when the new Commander of 4 Brigade, Nigeria Army, Brig. Gen. Banbella. A. Raji came to introduce himself to the Governor in Benin City yesterday.
The Governor, who noted that the armed forces has redefined issues on the security in the north east zone of Nigeria, also admitted that they Nigeria Army had been one of the security agencies combating crime in Edo State hence he expressed appreciation for it, just as he lauded them for being non-partisan.
While emphasizing that the armed forces are in the battle field, he affirmed that the Nigerian-state has a duty to provide comfort and social amenities for them and their families.
Governor Oshiomole disclosed that the state government would ask the contractor handling the school project in the army barracks to expedite action on it and that work on the road project would continue, stressing that the state government would systain its collaboration and support to the 4 Brigade.
He disclosed that there were some security issues in Ovia North East, Ovia South West and Ologbo including kidnapping among others.
Earlier, the new Commander, 4 Brigade, Nigeria Army, Brig Gen Banbella A. Raji, who disclosed that he had to introduce himself and inform him of the change in the leadership in even at the level of the 2 Division, of the Nigeria Army to the Governor, lauded Governor Oshiomhole for building infrastructure in the army barracks, his support to the brigade and sued for its sustenance.
He noted that the on-coming governorship election in Edo State was a turning point in Governor Oshiomhole’s administration which is winding to its end and the army would continually play its constitutional role, ensure security and remain non-partisan.
Highpoint of the visit was the exchange of souvenirs between both of them.
