BENIN CITY-The fate of four senior pastors of a popular Pentecostal church (name withheld) earlier arrested over alleged murder of a pastor’s wife in Uromi town, the administrative headquarters of Esan North-East Local Government Area of Edo State is now hanging on the outcome of autopsy conducted on the deceased by police investigators, last weekend in Benin City.

Amongst the pastors in police custody is the husband of the deceased woman Pastor Kingsley Amayo said to be the principal suspect in the alleged murder of his wife, Mrs Faith Amayo, 38.

It was gathered that a renowned police pathologist of the rank of Police Commissioner was brought from Enugu to conduct the post mortem at a mortuary in Uromi town.

Elder brother of the deceased Mr Gabriel Evbuomwan told our reporter that the family is awaiting the autopsy report to further determine the next line of action in unmasking the questionable circumstances surrounding the death of her sister.

He said that on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 Pastor Kingsley Amayo had through his elder brother one Chief Iso informed the family that their daughter Mrs Faith Amayo had died in a motor accident at Ujogba while her husband Pastor Kingsley Amayo was driving her to Benin City.

He added that their finding revealed that no case of accident was neither recorded at Ujogba nor reported at Ekpoma Police Division in charge of the area that fateful day.

Mr Evbuomwan appealed to the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in Zone ‘5’ Mr Kola Sodipo and police authorities to ensure prosecution of anyone or group found culpable in the her death to serve as deterrent to others.

Investigation revealed that three of the pastors have been released as they were earlier arrested for shielding the prime suspect Pastor Kingsley Amayo, from arrest.

Contacted, elder brother of Pastor Kingsley Amayo when identified himself as Priest of Iso (Ohen-Iso) stated that “since my brother has been detained, I do not have the interest to talk to you”.

The Zonal Public Relations Officer (ZPRO) DSP Emeka Iheanacho could not be reached on the release of the three pastors.

He had earlier stated that a post mortem would be done to ascertained cause of death.

He disclosed that the discrepancies in reports made to the police on the death of the woman triggered the investigation.

“So the petition before AIG is from the family of the deceased where they suspected that the husband most have used the woman for ritual.

“So, that is the matter we are investigating presently”. DSP Iheanacho stated.
