BENIN CITY-A renewed cult war has left two dead and one fatally wounded in Benin City, the Edo State Capital.

The victims, Osazee and Obodo were separately shot dead at Oyemwosa and Osemwende streets around 2nd East Circular Road in Benin City, yesterday

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police in Edo State Mr Chris Ezike said the police have waded in with a view to preventing collateral damage.

CP Ezike stated that some arrests have been made and assured that the police are working round the clock to ensure protection of lives and property of law-abiding citizens in the state.

He enjoined parents to always monitor their children and wards against being members of cult groups and involvement in criminal activities.

The crisis is said to be between the Neo-Black Movement a.k.a Black Axe and Eiye confraternity, and erupted at a drinking spot following an argument last Sunday in Sokponba area of Benin City.

It was further learnt that the second victim, Osazee who recently lost his father was in black shirt when the attackers gunned him down.

The third person said to have been fatally wounded is receiving medical attention at undisclosed hospital in Benin City.

It will be recalled that no fewer than 560 suspected cultists have so far been arrested, arms and ammunition recovered from them by operatives of Edo State Police Command in the last 11 months.
