BENIN CITY – The Chairman of Hausa Community Edo State, Alhaji Badamasi Saleh has refuted claim that the Hausa Community has endorsed a candidate of a particular political party of the September 28 guber election in the state.

Alhaji Saleh who refuted the allegation in an interview with newsmen in Benin City, owned up to their allegiance to the Benin Kingdom, irrespective of party lines.

He underscored the hands of fellowship extended to the Hausa community since residing in Benin by the kingdom.

Saleh also stated the candidates of the two major political parties justling for the governorship seat hailed from Benin hence members of the Hausa Community are free to vote for the candidate of their choice.

According to him, “even in a family, the husband may choose to vote for a particular candidate, while his wife or children vote for another candidate adding that the body would not force anybody to vote against his or her wish.

He said since governance is a continous process they would continue to support any government in power in as much as the government means well for the people.

On the issue of tax, Saleh reiterated their commitment to supporting government through payment of taxes.

If the indigenes could pay tax, why should we not comply as well, according to him.

He used the opportunity to appraise the developmental strides of governor Adams Oshiomhole’s led administration in the last seven years.
