BENIN CITY: Edo State governorship election has witness an impressive turn out as eligible voters came out enmass as early as 7am to exercise their franchise to elect the candidate who will lead the state for the next four years.
Polling units visited includes units 003 and 004 at King square; Units 1,2,3 and 4 at Imaguero College, units 12, 13 and 14 at Anglican Girls Grammar Schools all in Benin City where voters were seen queuing in an orderly manner to be accredited before casting their votes. There were no signs of violence in all the polling units visited as security operatives are doing their job to ensure an orderly and peaceful atmosphere for electorate to exercise franchise.
An assistant electoral officer who spoke with news men under anonymity said they arrived at the polling units (unit 004) at about 7:15 am settled down and sorted out their materials and actual accreditation and voting commenced at about 8:05am. He said so far the process has been peaceful as all the party agents are observing the process and the card readers so far is working well and have not recorded any problem with the machine.
Speaking with newsmen after casting his vote at unit 004 at King square Mr. Christian Ugu said he is happy to have voted for the candidate of his choice and commended Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the orderly way his officials are conducting themselves while the security agencies are doing their best to ensure the process is orderly.  “I am happy that I have voted and want to thank INEC and security agents for a good job as no violent are recorded so far”.
Mr. Tony Ibe who voted at unit 14 Anglican Girls Grammar School express delight in the process so far rating it higher. “I have voted, the atmosphere is peaceful, calm and devoid of violent in any form. So far, no intimidation, no financial inducement.
