BENIN CITY-A new Commissioner of Police has assured of improved security in Edo State.

The new COMPOL, Mr Fimihan Adeoye gave the assurance shortly after he assumed duty in Benin City, yesterday.

He takes over from Mr Chris Ezike who was deployed to replace Mr Fimihan Adeoye at Police College, Ikeja, Lagos State.

Shortly after taken over from his predecessor, CP Fimihan thanked Mr Ezike for the achievements the police command recorded under his watch.

He also commended Mr Chris Ezike for the structure he has established to ensure the success of the September 10 governorship election in Edo State.

CP Adeoye however promised to sustain and improve on the structure to enhance water-tight security in the state.

“First and foremost we are going to sustain every good thing that have been in place to ensure safety of lives and property in this command.

“I am an apostle of crime prevention, so we are going to be sustaining all the crime prevention methods and strategies that have been established”. He stated.

Earlier in a hand over speech, the former CP, Mr Chris Ezike thanked the Edo State government, Crown Prince of Benin Kingdom and the entire people of Edo State for their support in the crime fighting, prevention and control.

He appealed to the new CP to ensure that the robust Operation Order planned for the September 10 election, is made to work, as Nigerians are looking up to Edo State election.

“You must make that Operation Order work, you must make it work”. Mr Ezike stressed.

He enjoined the command not to relent in the fight against cultism as cultism is the root of all crimes.

CP Ezike however charged operatives of the command to remain professional and police with integrity.

“Remain professional and police with integrity”. CP Ezike stated.

He expressed optimism at the outcome of the Sept. 10 gubernatorial polls in the state.

It will be recalled that Mr Chris Ezike took over from Mr Samuel Adegbuyi as the Commissioner of Police in Edo State on Monday September 7, 2015 following his deployment from River State Police Command.
