BENIN CITY– A new Commissioner of Police has assumed duty in Edo State. He is Mr Gwandu Haliru Abukar.

He takes over from Mr Fimihan Adeoye who has been redeployed to another state, barely 18 days, as CP, Edo.

Shortly after inspecting a guard of honour mounted at the sentry of the state police command headquarters in Benin City, yesterday, the new CP and his predecessor as well as some senior police officers, entered a closed-door handover ceremony in the office of the CP at the command headquarters.

Though CP Gwandu is yet to speak with police affairs reporters at the command headquarters, our reporter reliably learnt that he was one time the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of operations at the Zone 5 headquarters, Benin City.

It will be recalled that the out-gone CP, Fimihan Adeoye took over from Mr Chris Ezike on Monday, September 5, 2016.
