BENIN CITY-The Commissioner of Police in Edo Mr Haliru Gwandu has inaugurated Eminent Peoples Forum (EPF) to partner with the police in crime prevention, detection, fighting and control in the state.

The forum made up of traditional rulers, religious leaders, reputable industrialists and personalities in Edo State, was inaugurated at the Police Officers Mess, GRA, Benin City, yesterday.

“After this our interactive session, I want to say that you stand to be inaugurated and you are a formidable member of this Eminent Peoples Forum in Edo State.

“We count seriously on your wise counselling, your wealth of experience and we believe that you can be good ambassadors of the police institution and by extension to our Nigeria nation

“I want to assure you that all issues that we shall treat in the course of our partnership shall be treated with almost confidentiality”. CP Gwandu stated.

The Commissioner further stated that the forum is the brainchild of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Idris Ibrahim as its major objective is to collaborate with the police command for better and secured society.

He enjoined them to always avail the police of information that would further deepen community-based policing and general security.

He maintained that the forum would be meeting quarterly to and review and brainstorm on security situation in Edo State.

The CP also used the occasion to interact with the eminent personalities who assured the commissioner of their support.

Among personalities present included Chief Osayomwanbor Osemwengie-Ero, the Edobayekha of Benin Kingdom, Hon. Mathew Iduoiyekemwen, Enigie, the Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists, Edo State Council, Sir Roland Osakue and the Chief Imam of Benin Central mosque, Alhaji Fatai Enabulele.
