Abuja – The House of Representatives in Abuja on Tuesday, threw out a bill for an Act to establish Chartered Institute of Contract Projects and Facilities Management.

The bill, sponsored by Rep. Segun Adekola (Ekiti-PDP), is to be charged with the responsibility for registration and disciplining of members.

Adekola said it would also regulate and control the practice of contract projects and facilities profession.

The lawmaker said the institute would bring professionals in the field under one umbrella and promote discipline in the sector.

According to him, the institute, if established, will ensure that projects are professionally delivered in good time and organisations do not lose their monies.

He urged the House to support the bill as it would facilitate enormous benefits for the country.

The bill which did not attract contributions from the members was unanimously rejected after the Speaker; Mr Yakubu Dogara, put it to vote.
