Ibadan –  The Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadiq Abubakar, says that the military has made substantial progress in reducing security to the barest minimum in the North-East of the country.

He made the disclosure during a courtesy visit on the Governor of the state, Mr Abiola Ajimobi at the Presidential Lodge, the Government House, Ibadan on Saturday.

Abubakar,who said that the North-East of the country would soon be much secured, added that the military would not condone situation were organised groups would continue to kill innocent people.

“Effort is on to improve and reposition the force for professionalism.

‘’Special thanks to President Muhammadu Buhari for his unflinching support for the progress recorded so far,’’ he said.

He said that efforts were ongoing to expand NAF detachment in Ibadan, and promised that more airmen would be sent to the state at the end of ongoing course in NAF January.

Abubakar, however, appealed to the state government to help NAF in signing the titles of its lands.

He commended the state government for its supports to NAF detachment,adding that there would be more development in NAF School, Ibadan.

Responding, Ajimobi said that the state government had been collaborating and cooperating with security agencies to ensure peace.

“We make security of life and property our priority in this state because development is premised on security.

“We will continue to support the security agencies in the state,” he said.

The governor said that the security agencies, particularly the Air Force, had been very supportive to the state in the area of traffic control, security and fire incidences.

Ajimobi, who said that the state government maintained regular meetings with all security agencies, assured that he would not relent in such meaningful relationship.

He further assured the NAF boss that the titles of the NAF’s lands in the state would be signed as requested.

The governor who noted that Abubakar was the first Chief of Air Staff that would visit the state in recent time, assured him that the visit would remain indelible in the state.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports that Abubakar was in Ibadan on a facility tour of NAF detachment and other NAF property in the state.
