BENIN CITY- Edo University Iyamho has held a two day workshop/retreat for its staff towards building their capacity and minds on the workings of the university.

The maiden orientation and training program for the staff which took place during the week, at Aliko Dangote Auditorium of the institution however showcased the academic excellence of the 41st state owned university and 142nd university in Nigeria.

In his remarks, the Acting Vice Chancellor, Prof. Emmanuel Aluyor stated that the institution known as one of the fastest growing universities of world class standard in the country would always rewards excellence.
The VC charged members of staff to be dedicated in discharging their duties, noting that the institution would not hesitate to discipline any erring staff.

According to him, “the university will always find a way to assess and reward excellence but will punish indiscipline among staff of the institution.

On her part, the Registrar, Dr. Mrs. Isoken Ogboto said that the purpose for the establishment of the university is to meet the increasing demands for quality tertiary education in the state in particular and the world at large, adding that, the institution is equipped with the best facilities known globally.

The Registrar who delivered a paper titled “Establishment And Administration Procedures Within Edo University Iyamho” , noted that, the university’s staff strength as at October, 2017 was 177 for both academic and non-academic staff which is made up of 78 academic and 99 non-academic staff.

She said the objective of Edo University Iyamho is to advance knowledge through teaching, research and innovative activities for the benefit of the university and the community in which it exists.

The Registrar who also spoke on the “Rules/Regulations for Confirmation of Appointments and Promotions of staff” said every rules/regulations are designed to govern or control the conduct of activities within a particular area of concern of an organized formal institution such as Edo University Iyamho.

The Catholic Bishop of Auchi Diocese, Bishop G.G. Dunia and the Chief Iman of Auchi, Prof. Z.I Oseni spoke on the Ethnical Consideration in the Workplace and Strengthening the Relationship between University Staff and Students with the Uzairue Community respectively while the Deputy VC, Prof. Steven Omondia spoke on the Governance and Management of Edo University, Iyamho.
