BENIN CITY- The Edo Government said it would partner Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) to ensure that indigenous oil and gas companies operated in accordance with the Local Content Act.
The Governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki, stated this at the opening of PENGASSAN Producers’ Forum Retreat in Benin on Wednesday.

He said that the state was playing host to indigenous oil and gas companies and had opened conversations with them on the subject matter.
Obaseki said the retreat with the theme: “Strategic and Information based leadership; Panacea for Effective Trade Unionism” was apt at this period given what was happening to oil globally.
He also said that there was no doubt that the present time called for deeper reflection on the future of oil industry.

According to the governor, more importantly, Nigeria should begin to utilise the hydro-carbon asset to redefine the future of this country.
He said that his administration had completed the feasibility study of Edo Industrial Park at Iyanomo and hoped to partner with the workers’ union on how to execute the project.
