BENIN CITY- Police in Edo have arrested two Kogi State born farmers with two AK 47 rifles, one Barecta pistol and large numbers of ammunition in Aviele town, near Auchi in Etsako West local government area of Edo state.

The suspects Isah Yusuf, 30, and Lahimi Siaka both from Okene local government area of Kogi State allgedly concealed the deadly weapons inside a sack bag when they were intercepted at Aviele town.
Their mission and target could not be immediately ascertained at the time of their arrest but police said interrogation would umask that eventually.

One of the suspects, Isah Yusuf said he saw the bag containing the arms and ammunition in his farm as he was arrested while taking the bag to his brother in Auchi.
He denied knowledge of how the bag got to his farm.

Isah however admitted to have lied about the content of the bag when he was intercepted at Aviele.
He claimed to have swiftly gave the bag to Lahimi who was chased and apprehended immediately.
The commissioner of police in Edo CP Johnson Kokumo said Edo State would remain a hotbed for criminals and their collaborators.
He said investigation would further lead to arrest of more suspects.
