WARRI – A 28 years old mentally challenged woman who was delivered of a set of twins (Male and Female) at the Ekpan General Hospital in Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State, is currently seeking to be reunited with her family.

The lady who was incoherent but of a rather calm disposition, gave her name as Esther , her husband’ s name as Seun, and her father’s name as Jimoh.

Information about where she was from was conflicting. At some point, she said she is from Oha Town in Delta State, giving her family name as Jemisayowho but she also later said she was from Oshodin / Mushin in Lagos State.

Speaking exclusively with the NIGERIAN OBSERVER , Esther said she had come to Warri in search of a relation whose name she simply gave as Aunty Beauty.

She further disclosed that she was brought to the hospital about a month ago by a “matured man” who saw her while she was in labour.

According to her, she has two other children in Lagos, whose names she gave as Zainab and Gideon ( 8years and 1year respectively) .

Esther who speaks Yoruba, Urhobo and Pidgin English fluently, spoke to Nigerian Observer in Pidgin English amid unusually long pauses , claims to be a member of the Cherubim and Seraphim Church.

When asked if she would like a situation where the children would be adequately catered for in an Orphanage Home , she bluntly refused and said :
“No o..we nor dey do like that for our side. I go carry dem go Lagos, for Oshodin , for Brown Street go meet my mama. ”

Asked if she would change her mind should she be allowed to go with the babies to the orphanage, she said, yes.

Although, the baby girl looked quite healthy, however, the baby boy appeared frail and sickly. She said she has christened the baby girl Rachael, and the baby boy Tunde.

Some of the nurses and matrons who were on duty and didn’t want their names in print, said she delivered the twin babies inside the vehicle while being ferried to the hospital by a police officer and that ever since, nobody had come to ask after her.

Presently, Esther and her children only survives on good will from public spirited individuals and faith based organisations (Particularly the Catholic Church).

Although she obliged me a snap shot of herself and the babies, she however rejected being put on air. When asked if she would like to be on the Television so that her family could locate her immediately as they might have been worried about her whereabouts , she said: ” No o… I nor want Television, you fit take picture, but I nor go gree for Television, no o…

” I go comot when the time reach… Na so I take dey born, na so I dey do.

” If I reach Oshodin for Lagos, I go know road go Brown street. Na for there my people dey. ”

There are concerns about the precarious situation of both Esther and her babies because of the high rate of ritualists ‘ activities and baby factories across the country in recent times .

The lives of Esther and her twin babies may be hanging in the balance as she could be drugged and separated from from the babies by unauthorised person(s) ; should the Management of Ekpan General Hospital decide to evict her from the female ward where she seems to have over stayed her welcome.
