Oredo – In continuation of its campaign to curb void votes in the forthcoming general elections, the Edo state directorate of National Orientation Agency (NOA) on Friday held a One Day sensitization workshop.
The workshop which is part of efforts by NOA to take the campaign to grassroots, was held at Iririh Community Town hall in Oredo local government area of the state.
Speaking during the programme, Edo NOA Acting Director, Mrs Grace Eseka asserted invalid votes can bring about inconclusive election, hence it “has to be reduced to the barest minimum.”
Mrs Eseka who took out time to demonstrate to participants how to thumbprint on the ballot papers before voting, called on political parties to enlighten their supporters to identify their party symbols.
“The programme is to ensure that the votes of electorates count and more importantly curb invalid votes in the forthcoming elections”, The Edo NOA director said.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Officer in Oredo local government area, Mr John Adie informed participants of the commission’s preparedness to conduct a credible elections.
Mr Adie urged the electorates who are yet to collect their Permanent Voters Card (PVC) to do so, adding “No PVC, No Vote” as there is no provision for ‘incidence form’ for those without PVC.
In his remarks, Odionwere of the community, Pa Omoruyi Osemwingie commended NOA for taking the awareness campaign to every nooks and cranny of the country.
High point of the campaign was the display of logo of the 91 political parties and steps to vote during the election.
