Warri – There was palpable tension Wednesday morning as Security Operatives took over the premises of Shoprite in Effurun, Uviwe Local Government Area of Delta State, in an attempt to forestall a possible reprisal attack following the recent xenophobic attacks on Nigerians in South Africa.

It was gathered that the Security Operatives have also restricted the movements of persons especially customers into the premises for fear of being attacked.

There are fears that the business establishment might be attacked in retaliation of the attacks and killing Nigerians in South Africa.

Nigerian Observer gathered that , the situation is also the same with Shoprite, Asaba, the Delta State Capital.

At the time of filing this report, the MTN Office in Warri and Effurun are partially opened.

When Contacted, the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya confirmed the report.

The Police Image-maker said,”The Security Operatives took over the premises because there is a threat that they want to attack South African Establishments here.”

Deltans have continued to express displeasure over the destruction of lives , businesses and properties of Nigerians in what a lot see as xenophobic attacks on Nigerians by South Africans and wondered why Security Operatives continue to protect South African Establishments in Nigeria.
