Abudu – Ahead of next year’s gubernatorial election in Edo state, Orhionmwon Local Government chairman, Hon Silvester Okoro yesterday said Godwin Obaseki will emerge the All Progressive Congress (APC) governorship candidate.

Hon Okoro said this yesterday, during a meeting to formally terminate the appointment of all political appointees in the council, at Abudu, Edo state.

Okoro who charged the former appointees to re-dedicate themselves towards the unity of APC in the state, said their sack was “not a witch-hunt”, but a strategy to further strengthen the party, ahead of next year’s Edo gubernatorial polls.

The local government chairman who debunked the rumor of Governor Obaseki leaving APC for another political party said, “he is not leaving this party, and he is going to win his nomination and he is going to win the governorship election”.

Speaking on behalf of the former aides, Mr Sunday Okankan, thanked the council boss for the opportunity given them to serve the local government.

High points of the meeting was the unanimous declaration of support for the reelection of Godwin Obaseki, as Governor of the state.
