Benin City – In a swift response to the challenges in the Nigerian health sector, Igbinedion University Teaching Hospital, Okada (IUTH), has intensified work at the 500 bed hospital project in Benin City the Edo state capital.

The Deputy Chancellor and former governor of Edo state, Chief Lucky Igbinedion while leading some members of the board and the Chief Medical Director of the Igbinedion University Teaching Hospital, Okada , Prof. Godwin Bazuaye on an inspection of the project at the Utra-modern Glass House on Sapele road, Benin city, promised that the project will be completed soon.

Chief Igbinedion assures that when the hospital commences operation, it shall completely change the narrative in the nation’s health sector by bringing world class medical services closer to the people.

Also speaking, the Chief medical director, IUTH, Prof. Godwin Bazuaye who stated that the facility will make Edo state a hub of medical tourism, hinted that a stem cell transplant centre will be established in the hospital to provide the much needed solution to the problem of sickle cell anemia in Sub-Sahara Africa
