… defends faith in Obaseki_

BENIN CITY – Efforts by members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State to penetrate one of the strongholds of Governor Godwin Obaseki in Oredo Local Government Area of the state, has been rebuffed by die-hard supporters of the governor.

Oredo Ward 1 leader, Mr. Goodluck Okhuarobo, who narrated his encounter with agents of Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, candidate of APC in the September 19 gubernatorial election, said: “Some supporters of the APC governorship candidate came to my house in Ekehuan Road area of Benin City, with bags of money (N20 million) to beg me to support their candidate in the September 19 election.

“I rejected their bribe money and sent them out of my house. I told them that character, capacity and not money, will decide the winner of the forthcoming election.”

Okhuarobo added: “A lot is at stake in the forthcoming election and we will not trade off our future well-being for a pot of porridge. We want Obaseki to continue with his giant strides in all the sectors of the state.

“Edo people have been the greatest beneficiaries of a well governed state in the last three years and seven months, under Obaseki. No sane man will exchange Obaseki with the APC candidate.”

According to the Ward leader, “They are afraid of losing the election, which in my opinion, they have already lost, because of the bad product they are trying hard to market to Edo people, whose antecedent we know so well.

“You cannot have people like Tony Adun, popularly known as Kabaka; Osakpamwan Eriyo, also known as No Molest, and a pastor that is being tried for corruption and many other degenerates in your party and expect to defeat a candidate like Obaseki with the millions of Edo supporters.”
