Obaseki approves Prince Ogbena as village head of Ojirami …names clan heads for Inyenlen, Errah communities

The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has approved the appointment of Prince Clement Obayemi Erimiakhena Ogbena as the village head of Ojirami in Akoko Edo Local Government Area of Edo State.

The governor gave the approval at the Weekly Executive Council (EXCO) meeting held via zoom on Wednesday, October 28, 2020.

Other traditional rulers whose appointments were approved include Chief Anthony Aikpegbe Asebhofoh as the clan head of Inyenlen in Esan South East Local Government Area and Chief Sumaina Momodu Iluafenmi IV as the Udale (clan head) of Errah in Owan East Local Government Area of the state.

The names of the traditional rulers were presented by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Monday Osaigbovo, who sought approval for their appointments after due diligence and in accordance with the Provisions of Part II of the Traditional Rulers and Chiefs Law, 1979.

Prince Ogbena ascends to the position after the death of the former village head of Ojirami, His Royal Highness (HRH) S. O. Osheku Oduduru II, who was also the clan head of Okulosho. Prince Ogbena hails from the Utofiasha branch of the Ibinijie Ruling House.

On his part, Chief Asebhofoh takes over after the death of the former clan head of Inyenlen, HRH, John Akpor Uba, on the 18th of November, 2008.

Chief Iluafenmi IV takes over following the demise of former Udale of Errah, HRH Alhaji (Chief) Abu Haruna II, on September 6, 2014.

The council considered other matters including the state’s forestry policy and the bill for a law establishing the Edo State Investment Promotion Office, among others.
