There was pandemonium in Benin city during the Valentines Day celebration when a young man Mr. Courage Eguabor narrowly escaped being lynched by an irate mob of youths who accused him of engaging in homosexual acts with another man Joshua Asesa.
The Nigerian Observer gathered that Joshua Asesa who is alleged to be Mr. Eguabor lover fled from the scene as at the time the incident happened.

According to eyewitness accounts, the angry crowd of youths had barged into the room where Courage and his lover were having a ‘ good time’ as part of celebrating the February 14th lovers day and attacked the duo with clubs and planks.
While Mr Courage’s lover managed to flee the scene, Mr courage was not so lucky as he was dragged out and severely beaten by the mob who were determined to burn him alive since they considered his actions as an abominable act in the community.

It was due to the quick intervention of some other youths who are familiar with him that eventually rescued him from the mob.
It was gathered that the said attackers scampered for safety to avoid being arrested for attempting jungle justice on Mr Courage as police were seen approaching the scene.

Some of the elders of the community who spoke with the men of Nigeria police narrated the ordeal and urge them to search for Courage and his lover who were caught in an abominable act which is against the culture and laws of the land so it can serve as deterrent to other youths who are thinking of engaging in such act.
