BENIN CITY – A local vigilante group who have been on the trail of a young man, Obasohan Amama Kelvin, since 2012, has invaded his resident in Benin City, as they got information that Kelvin,who has been on the run since the incident happened in 2012 was around.The vigilante group,who did not find him at home, because it was a false information, burnt down the family house at Ogiso Street,in Benin metropolis and killed his brother,Obasohan Amama Courage, and left a message for Kelvin to surrender himself to them or he will face severe consequences.
Information made available to The NIGERIAN OBSERVER reveals that Kelvin,a father of one, lost his wife some years ago, After the death of his wife,he was introduced into homosexuality by one Tony.
It was gathered that their relationship blossomed and Tony started living with Kelvin in his house. They were caught making love, sometimes in 2012 by one of Kelvin’s cousin,who raised alarm over their abominable and forbidden act.The large crowd that gathered gave the lovebirds the beating of their lives. Kelvin managed to escape, but Tony died as a result of the injuries he sustained.
It was further gathered that,the entire Community through a special vigilante group set up to deal with same sex activities in the community, trailed him to Warri and Port Harcourt cities,where he fled to.The group which has special traditional powers also warned the people that harboured Kelvin,that they will also be killed along with Kelvin.
Most of his relatives who helped him had to throw him out to save their lives
Since his last sighting in Port Harcourt,where the vigilante group trailed him to in 2012,he has not been as his whereabout his unknown.Until this recent attack,when they killed his brother, Courage and burnt down his family house in January 2021,when a false information was received that he was sighted in Benin City
Same sex activity is a Federal Offence.Section 214 criminalizes ” carnal knowledge” against the order of nature with a penalty of fourteen years imprisonment. It applies to sexual intercourse between men. Section 215 criminalizes attempts to commit the offence prohibited under Section 214 prohibition.
