Abudu – Staff and visitors to Orhionmwon local government secretariat who are without their COVID19 vaccination card are being turned back at the entrance gate since the enforcement of ‘no vaccination card, no entry’ into Edo state government-owned facilities commenced.

The enforcement team made up of stern looking police constabularies and Public Works Volunteer (PUWOV) officials advised those without the card to go for the vaccine to be able to have access into the secretariat.

They maintained that the directive is strictly a government order bound to be obeyed by anyone entering the facility as part of measures to curb the spread of the coronavirus pandemic in the state.

The enforcement which kicked off on Tuesday, September 15, 2021 across the 18 local government has however led to most staff of the council to be absent from their duty posts.

The Nigerian Observer gathered, the workers like some residents had refused to made themselves available for inoculation over unfounded claims that COVID19 vaccines is harmful to human health.

According to him, “they should go and get vaccinated; the state government has already given the directive, not only here (Orhionmwon) but across all the 18 local government areas.

“if you don’t come to work because of the vaccine, you will be absent. And when you don’t get paid, don’t say it’s because of the vaccine; it’s because you were not coming to work”.
