The Novel Edo Youth MEGA concert organized by the Governor Godwin Obaseki’s led administration in the State may have come and gone but the memory of the event which drew a lot of interest from within and aside the state might take along time before it could erase from our minds.

Held on Saturday November 13th 2021, the show which was part of the side line activities for this year’s annual Alaghodaro summit was also used to inaugurate the multi-million naira, Sir Victor Uwaifo creative Hub built by the present administration in the State to empower Youths grow their talents and potential in the ever growing and money spinning entertainment industry in Nigeria.

Tagged the Guitar Boy lives on”, the MEGA concert wouldn’t have come at a more better time than this wonderful period of the fifth Anniversary of the annual Alaghodaro summit with the theme “EDO Of Our Dreams, Building A Sustainable Future”.

Judging by the presence of the array of stars from the Nigerian music industry who have made their mark both nationally and internationally, there was no doubt that the stage for the event was fully set to give fun-seekers in Benin City and its environs a swell night that they will leave to remember in a very long time to come.

With Artistes like AYRA STARR, JONNY DRILE, WAJE, TENI and DJ NEPUNE on hand to thrill the audience, the premises of the NIGERIAN OBSERVER where the creative Hub is situated was fully occupied with inflow of fun-seekers mostly when it was observed that some of the fans that were at the concert venue came purposely to catch a glimpse on their idol artistes as well as the newly renovated OBSERVER building which have been left unattended to by successive government in the past.

At the show night, the hit lyrics of Teni entitled” I go die for your sake” kept every body on the dancing floor including the state Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki his wife Betsy, and the deputy Governor comrade Philip Shaibu and wife, Mrs. Mary-Ann Shaibu as well as other top government.

Officials including the commissioner for communication and orientation Barrister Andrew Emwanta, State and national Assembly members till the wee hours of the next day.

Launching the creative Hub earlier, the state governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki said the Hub was initiated as part of the state government sustain programmes and reforms to ensure that Edo youth realize their fullest potentials, adding that the newly built facility named after late music legend, Sir Victor Uwaifo was to leverage the numerous opportunities in the creative industry to empower more Edo youths as well as grow the state economy.

According to the Governor, “The creative Hub has facilities to support talents in the state who want to produce music, film and other creative contents. We are here to start a revolution in entertainment, Edo is about entertainment, Edo is about education; Edo is about helping those interested in Entertainment to achieve their aims”.

“This is a sound stage to help artiste produce music and films; there is an editing suite that will help artistes finalize all their productions” he revealed.

Eulogizing the late Sir Victor Uwaifo, one of the performing actfor the night, JOHNNY DRILE said the late music maestro was a legend and trail blazer unlike many of the new generation artiste who have no role models to imitate.
“Sir VictorUwaifo and other of his generation had few or none,so today we celebration the memories of a man who made it possible for us to believes our guts and creativity”.

“We honour him today and always; the legend lives on.” he chorused.
Above all, the Youth MEGA concert shows those who were in attendance mostly the Youths that something very significant about the reforms and sustaining the economy development of the state by Governor Godwin Obaseki in realizing “Edo of our Dreams, Building a sustainable future” was rightly on course.

The Governor since assumption of office five years age has placed premium on consolidating on years of building a vibrant private-sector led economy which has benefited from wide-ranging government reforms and programmes informed by insights, learning and intelligence gamered from sustained and evolving exchange with private sector.
