…Says Edo Poised For Sporting Excellence
BENIN CITY – Edo State Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Comrade Philip Shaibu, has played host to a delegation of international football scouts,Nexer Aiding Group Dreams Football from Sweden.
Speaking while receiving the Swedish delegation at the Government House, Benin City, the Deputy Governor reiterated the commitment of the present administration towards transforming the sports sector.
According to Shaibu: ” this administration is focused in restoring the golden era of sports in Edo State”.
“Edo remains the native land of sporting excellence in Nigeria; we are determined to reclaim our position as the number one in sports among the comity of States in the country. Returning sports to the natives is a vision we have set out to actualize”, he added.
The scouts delegation arrived Nigeria to hunt for young football talents between the ages of 15 – 19 years.
The delegation will be working with local Coaches, in collaboration with 10 international Coaches; while four foreign clubs, namely: Aston Villa, Leceister City, Bayern Munich and an Italian club are expected to be present during the scouting period.
