BENIN CITY :The Benin Monarch , His Royal Majesty , Oba Ewuare II has called on political office holders to try as much as possible to uphold the tradition and culture of the people which he said the colonial masters tried to erase after discovering that Benin kingdom and others in the country had superior administration and civilization than theirs.
Oba Ewuare II made the call when the Governor of Rivers State , Nyesom Wike paid him a courtesy visit at the palace over the weekend
While thanking him for the visit ,the Oba said the palace will keep praying for him so as not to come across those that will mislead ,misinformed him and also not to come across harms way .
He subsequently appreciated the governor for starting the journey of the presidential race with a visit to the palace and also for the fantastic work/projects he is doing in Rivers State
Earlier, Governor Nyesom Wike said he came to the palace some months ago as Director General (DG) of the campaign for the re-election of Edo State Governor , Mr Godwin Obaseki but that he has come for himself now to inform the Oba that he is vieiing for the office of president of Nigeria, also to seek for prayers and support on his aspiration.
He told the Oba that the way the country is going now , Nigeria needs somebody that will speak the truth the way it is and that if he is given the party ticket , he has the experience to tackle the problem facing the country haven been a local government chairman , minister for state for education and also the experience as a governor .
He noted that the major problem confronting the country today is insecurity and without adequate security no meaning development can take place pointing out that the country need to solve this problem through intellegence gathering which is lacking and that he is not going to sit down and give excusses but will take action that will see to the solution of the problem .
He then thanked the Oba for his fatherly disposition to all.
