OKADA- As aspirants gear up to clinch the Peoples Democratic Party’s sole ticket for the House of Representatives in the Ovia Federal Constituency, Barr Omosede Igbinedion, daughter of Chief Gabriel Igbinedion, Esama of Benin, has declared her interest to return to the green Chambers

Speaking in Okada, Headquarters of Ovia Federal Constituency at the weekend, Barr Omosede told her audience which included party leaders and teeming supporters in the area that she was the most qualified among persons who had indicated interest to contest the federal Constituency seat.

In 2015, Omosede was elected into the lower legislative Chambers of the National Assembly under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), but lost her reelection bid in 2019.

Her profile indicates that during her time at the National Assembly, she was the youngest female member and Deputy Chairman, House Services in the House of Representatives. She was also a member of the following committees: Local Content, Aviation, Downstream Petroleum, FCT, Judiciary, Rural Development, Women in Parliament.

“I am here today to officially inform you that I have picked the form to contest the ticket for the House of Representatives and to seek your votes.”

“And it was on the PDP platform that I was nominated as the candidate to contest in 2015 and we won. I have remained in the party since then, and I believe there should be reward for loyalty. I believe loyalty pays.

“Among those who have indicated interest to contest the ticket on the PDP platform, I am the only second time member, and I will be a ranking member in the house if given the opportunity.

“If you vote for me, as a second time member in the house, I can guarantee you that I will take prominent position such as chairmanship of grade A Committee and that will enable me to do more for our constituency.

“In the House of Reps, we have seniority, second time members take the front seats while first time members take second seat and I know you don’t want to take the second seat. I am the only person contesting under PDP that will be a second time member and a ranking member too.”

She lamented the increasing rate of attacks in the constituency, which she said has led to the loss of innocent farmers

Omosede said the constituents need a formidable voice that can speak up in their defense and make suggestions that can lead to the end of insurgency in the country.

“When we hear of herdsmen attack in Okokuo and Odighi, I am not happy because I know when I was in the House of Representatives, I spoke up severally against this very issue we are having”

“Being in the House of Representatives will afford me the privilege of representing you and bringing to the floor issues that concern not just my Constituency alone but the country at large”, she said.
