Edo Football Association cup(FA Cup) kicked off in Benin City yesterday with Star City bundling out Shooting Arrow by a lone goal in the curtain raiser fixture at the School of Health and Technology, Benin.

Edemudia Kelvin scored the only goal of the match in the 90th minute to keep his team in the competition.

In the second game of the day at the same venue, Rising Stars defeated Oloke FC in a dramatic shootout which ended 12-11 after a 1-1 draw in the regulation period of 90 minutes.

Abiri Abduljabbar scored for Rising Stars in 33 minutes before Eghosa Egharevba levelled up for Oloke FC in the 53rd minute,and the tie dragged till the final whistle, leading to the penalty shootout.

Captain Sodiq Ayinde stepped out confidently to take the final kick that gave Rising Stars the victory to set up second round meeting with Rolly Fc on Thursday.

Rising Stars Coach Nobert Ukatu in an interview said he was pleased with his boys performance and expressed confidence in his team’s ability to cross the next huddle.

Meanwhile, Star City who pipped Shooting Arrow in the first game of the competition are to face an uphill task with the defending champions Bendel Insurance FC waiting for them in Thursday’s fixtures.
