OBAGIE NEVBUOSA (IKPOBA OKHA) – The eders and people of Obagie Nevbuosa community in Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area of Edo State have reaffirmed the suspension of one Mr Festus Edegbe as Youth Leader of the community, citing his alleged involvement in the outlawed Community Development Association (CDA), thuggery and multiple sales of land.

They said the suspension was occasioned by the series of allegations which bothered on land grabbing and other social disturbances linked to him.

According to the community elders, with the Odionwere, Pa Omozuhiomwen Okungbowa Aiguobatile, Edegbe also hired armed thugs who storm the community Oguedion to unleashed mayhem on people of the community, including elders during a peaceful meeting at the Oguedion.

By the action, they said Edegbe has desecrated the community’s Oguedion and as well the prevailing peace in the community and consequently incurred the wrath of their forefathers.

Consequently, the Odionwere, Pa Okungbowa Aiguobatile led other elders of the community to lay a generational curse on him and his cohorts with the communitys ancestral Staff of Office (Ukhure).

The elders maintained that the activities of the former youth leader has caused the village more pains and sorrow than joy, hence his removal from office was in good faith.

The community elders further accused Edegbe of a recent assault of the spokesman of the Odionwere, Mr. Monday Omozuhiomwen who is currently receiving treatment at an undisclosed medical facility and as well arrested over ten community elders and youths.

While appealing to the Monarch to intervene for peace to return to the community, the Odionwere urged the general public to desist from land transactions with Edegbe.

Efforts to get reaction from the Festus Edegbe proved abortive as calls put across to three of his GSM lines were not going through.

Meanwhile, Mr Monday Omozuhionmwen has said that Edegbe is leveraging on the old age of the Odionwere and some elders to manipulate the community affairs, particularly land transactions.

In a statement, Omozuhionmwen said that Edegbe recently coerced the Odionwere and some elders to the community town hall to renounce their earlier pronouncement on him.

He restated that the elders earlier pronouncements on Edegbe are sacrosanct.
