Asaba – Two traditional Rulers from Otulu-ugo and Atuma-Iga community respectively, Obi Francis Medulunwa and Obi Chukwuka Daniel Ogbudu, recently escaped assassination from suspected hoodlums in Atuma-Iga Community in Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State.

Speaking with journalists, The Royal Father, Obi Daniel Ogbudu disclosed that the Otulu-Ugo paramount ruler visited him for a meeting, while the meeting was ongoing, they received a distress call that certain hoodlums were shooting sporadically at Otulu community and were coming down to Atuma-Iga to kidnap the kings.

Obi Ogbudu said that they quickly ran out from his palace to the junction of the community so that people could witness the act, and large they saw the group of abductors approaching them, suddenly the king of Otulu jumped down from his vehicle and held one suspect with pomp-action riffle, while two of the suspects took to their heels.

The king said that the caught suspect has been handed over to the Police operatives, stressing that criminal activities have increased in the area, while he has directed the Vigilante group to be at alert, while suspecting that there was a sponsor undertone.

Meanwhile, Obi Medulunwa said that the hoodlums invaded his community to attack his people, shooting sporadically, they rushed to the community junction and observe the hoodlums were carrying arms, while they struggled to get one red-handed, stressing that they shot many people and others seriously injured.

Obi Medulunwa later observed the suspects were hired hoodlums, as the suspect has confessed to the Police that they were sent by one Ikechukwu Iwegbuna popularly known as ‘Chiayoma’ and they set out the operation from his house.

Obi said that he has nothing to do with Akwukwu-Igbo as his community did not share boundaries with Akwukwu, and he saw no reason why they should plan to assassinate the both kings, while they reported the matter to the Police.

The duo Traditional rulers, hereby call on the security agency to investigate and fishout the remaining hoodlums and others to enable their community sleep with their two eyes closed.

Contacting the Police, the spokesperson CSP Edafe Bright disclosed that his office has not been notified as at the time of filling this report and would get back to the press, while the matter was reported to the state criminal investigating department who has swung into action to preserve normalcy in both communities.
