The Delta State Head of Service (HOS), Mr. Reginald Bayoko, has paid tributes to the Late Chief George Uchebenu, who was laid to rest at his hometown, Obiaruku.

He described the late octogenarian as a man who lived a life worthy of emulation.

Mr. Bayoko, who led permanent secretaries and some other civil servants to the burial of Late Uchebenu, admonished the family of the deceased to take solace in the fact that their late father lived a good life.

He said the deceased lived a worthy life and counseled the family to emulate his positive virtues, even as he prayed for the children to live longer than their father who died at the age of 80.

The officiating minister and Associate Pastor of the Living Faith Church, also known as Winners Chapel, Obiaruku District, Pastor Patrick Ayeke, enjoined all to live life worthy of emulation and with eternity in view.

He reminded christians of life after death and called for surrendering onto God, saying that eternity was real.

Prayers were offered for God’s strength and comfort to the bereaved family, after which the family members, relatives and friends bid the Uchebenu patriarch farewell.

Family members of the Late  Uchebenu,  including his first daughter and wife of Mr. Patrick Ojeblenu, Mrs. Florence Ojeblenu, described their father as hard working, focused, courteous, philanthropic and a preacher of righteousness.

The event which attracted dignitaries from far and near was also attended by the Commissioner for Finance, Mr. Fidelis Tilije.

Late Chief Uchebenu at various times served as Vice Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ward 9 in Obiaruku as well as an ex-officio in the Local Government EXCO, before his retirement from active politics.

He was the father in-law of Mr. Patrick Ojeblenu, Functioning Permanent Secretary, Office of the HoS, Delta State.
