BENIN CITY: The Edo State Council for Islamic Affairs (EDSCIA) has commended Governor Monday Okpebholo, for creating the office of the Special Adviser to the Governor on Islamic Religious Matters and the appointment of Alhaji Ahmed Musa Momoh as the pioneer Special Adviser.
Chairman of EDSCIA, Alhaji Abdul-Aziz Igbinidu gave the commendation when he led other Council members on a courtesy visit to the Special Adviser in his office, Block C, State Secretariat Building, Benin City,
While congratulating the S A on his appointment, the chairman described it as a significant development for the Muslim community in Edo State and an opportunity to strengthen constructive engagement between the state government and the Muslim Ummah.
Igbinidu assuring him of the Council’s readiness to work closely with his office in promoting peace, unity, religious harmony and peaceful coexistence, while also advancing Islamic activities and development across the state.
The Council Chairman further expressed the appreciation of the Muslim community in Edo State to Governor Okpebholo for creating the office, noting that the initiative provides an important platform for meaningful communication, consultation and collaboration between the government and the Muslim community.
According to him, the establishment of the office demonstrates a willingness by the Governor to strengthening the relationship between the government and Islamic organisations and communities across Edo State, while ensuring matters concerning Islamic religion receive appropriate attention.
He expressed confidence that the Special Adviser would discharge his responsibilities with wisdom, integrity, diligence and a deep sense of service, adding that the Council was prepared to provide the necessary cooperation within its capacity to support initiatives that would benefit the Muslim Ummah and the wider Edo State.
Responding, Alhaji Ahmed Musa Momoh, Special Adviser to the Governor on Islamic Religious Matters, expressed appreciation for the visit and the goodwill extended.
He pledged to work towards promoting initiatives towards the development of Islam across Edo State.
The Special Adviser also expressed his commitment to engaging with relevant stakeholders and working towards initiatives that would contribute to the welfare, unity and development of the Muslim community, as well as the peace and progress of the state.
The courtesy visit concluded with prayers for the success of the new office and for continued peace, unity and development across Edo State.
