The Special Adviser to Governor Godwin Obaseki on Political matters (Edo South), Lady Uwa Osunbor has advised some politicians in the state to stop peddling negative publicity about the administration of Godwin Obaseki and key into his vision to Make Edo Great Again, MEGA
She said that Edo State Money is the commonwealth of the people and it is only those who work for the interest and development of the state by joining the vision of the state governor to make Edo Great Again that will be entitled to benefit from the state money.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with the Nigerian Observer in Benin City, the Political Adviser disclosed that it is very sad that some people who are politicians are not keying into the vision of the governor rather they are peddling negative publicity about the administration because they want the old ways of doing things
According to her, lots of people do not know him. “My Governor is the kind of person who believes that money should be given to people who will do things that will benefit the people of the state and not for frivolous things that will not benefit the people.
“The Governor believes that Edo money is the common wealth of Edo people and not for any person. Why should only one person be benefiting and the others are not. The money to be given to one man should be added and used for projects that will benefit the people.
She further noted that, “Governor Obaseki is somebody who when he sees you have a beautiful idea that will benefit the people of the State, even if you do not have enough money he will add to it, do the review and ensure it is done to benefit the state
“A lot of people see him as the old kind of politician who they can just write anything to and claim it is for patronage for him to approve. He is not like that.
“The Governor believes that you are a member of the political party because you believe in the ideology of the party, so why should he pay you to stay in the party. If you don’t like the way he is doing it, it is too bad because this is his administration and he is the one that will account to the people of Edo state after being governor.
“He has said no EFCC will come to him after he finishes his tenure. That is why if you are dealing with the administration, make sure you are straight, dot your I’s and cross your t’s and think of ideas that are meaningful to the people but if you do not have anything to offer and just think that because you are a politician you are entitled to the state money, I can assure you that the man is very busy to attend to you”
The political adviser said some politicians are complaining, ‘we do not see him,’ forgetting that It is somebody that is not busy that will go and be sitting around doing nothing drinking, but the man is busy thinking ‘what do I do to Make Edo Great Again’
“If you don’t have the vision to Make Edo Great Again, forget it because you are not part of the Governor’s vision. When I hear people talk negatively about his administration, it is so sad,” Lady Osunbor noted
She enthused, “This man has a good vision to make Edo State Great Again which is his focus and if you have that at the back of your mind you can work with him. Those that fall out with him are those that cannot key into the Make Edo Great Again vision.
“They are politicians who feel they are entitled to government money. No, it is our common wealth, it is for everybody and you only get what you work for, what you deserve.” She added.
“It is unfortunate that some people are not seeing what the Governor is doing, rather all they see is the negative publicity that some politicians who do not want the administration to succeed are spreading because they do not want Edo to move forward.
“They are not really opening up their minds to look at this administration. The Governor is an introvert who believes in sitting down and using his head, he is not the type that goes to parties, drinking, he has not been one and he cannot become one now that he is governor.
“But he has people. Last weekend I went to represent him in a function in Edo South as Political adviser. He cannot be everywhere and that is part of the quarrel that the politicians are having, that he does not come to them.
“The Governor is very busy attracting investments because Edo State is strategically located. We were a civil service state with no industries. But thank God with the coming of Governor Godwin Obaseki, we have a modular refinery in the state now receiving products.
“I was there at Ologbo recently, they have started receiving products. They were not receiving products before; go there now they have started receiving products.
“The Ossiomo power plant is what we are now using, this is just the first phase, if not the frustration from certain quarters we would have entered the second phase. Go to the production center on Sapele road and see the number of cottage industries and businesses there because of constant power supply. Those people are paying taxes to the state government
“Go to Iguoriakhi College of Education and see the infrastructures, Abudu, Stella Obasanjo, the school of nursing and many more that will not only generate taxes but will give social responsibilities to the communities.
“Obaseki said he would create jobs by signing Memorandum of Understanding, MOU to attract people to come and invest in the state and the MOU are yielding results, but those criticizing the administration are not seeing it.
“To critics, the Gelegele sea port is a story, but I can tell you authoritatively, the Gelegele Sea Port is real, and it will be for the interest of all Edo people” she added.
