The Commissioner for health Prof. Obehi Akoria disclosed this in her office while playing host to the newly elected executive members of the Nigeria Medical Association (NMA) Edo State branch, led by the Chairman Dr. Imoisili Udoka who paid her a courtesy visit.
Commending the delegation for their zeal in ensuring the members maintain its pride of place to work together for the benefit of the state, the Commissioner said the need for continuous synergy can not be over emphasized as stakeholders in healthcare in the State.

Prof. Akoria said, ” we are looking for champions in the health space in Edo state to ensure the health system is improved. We will use the challenges as a stepping stone with support from the good people working in the health sector.”

Appealing to NMA Edo State to actively work with the ministry of health to achieve its mandate, she said modalities have been put in place to rectify poor health information to talk to people in the State using Radio waves and also the issues that concerns the doctors and she assured them that she will do her best to ensure the health system is improved.

She further noted that, the Government of Nigeria has a manual on health coalition which is one of the document Edo must domesticate as a state officially as this will give  the people power over their own health.

“As we burn our challenges as fuel of this journey to greatness Edo state NMA have a lot to do together to cover the health space, in terms of health information to the grassroot,” she added

Earlier, The Chairman, Nigeria Medical Association, Dr. Imoisili Udoka said this is a solidarity visit and also to introduce themselves to her office as the newly elected excos of NMA Edo State branch.
She appealed to the Commissioner to use her good office to solve the challenges in the health system and ensure the issues of quackery is totally eliminated in Edo State.
