As the 2023 general elections draw near, women leaders in the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) from Egor Local Government Area of Edo State have been urged to remain united, speak with one voice and work for the victory of the party in the forthcoming elections.

Andrew Emwanta, the commissioner for youth and gender issues, who made the appeal during a solidarity visit by women leaders from Egor Local Government Area to his office in Benin City, said the women should continue to work with one voice to ensure that PDP in Egor Local Government Area remains very strong.

“My Joy is that you are speaking with one voice, but I want to enjoin you to continue to be united. We should work together because there is nothing like new or old PDP, we must break the barrier because we only have one PDP,” he noted.

According to Emwanta who was flanked by the permanent secretary, Peter Osagie and the director of youth, Asiriuwa Victor, who are both from Egor Local Government Area, the women are going to be given their rightful place in politics.

The commissioner informed the women that there are plans to organize a special rally in Egor Local Government Area and he assured them that they will be carried along in the scheme of things, noting that, “If we are united, we will not have problems.”

“When people like us are in PDP, the oppression of the women must end, we must give women their respective place and play politics of equality,” he added.
