An apex Agbor group, Concerned Agbor Citizens, has called for calm as Nigerians go out on Saturday, February 25 to participate in the much-awaited 2023 presidential election.

The group handed down the advice during a chat with journalists in Agbor, Delta State on Thursday.

The group, speaking through its chairman, Mr Echi Obue, noted that the February 25 presidential election was another avenue for Agbor people to join other Nigerians in deciding who becomes Nigeria’s next president as the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari ends on May 29 this year.

It pointed out that the country was going through tough economic and security challenges bu that should not warrant any form of violence or flouting of government laws as regards peaceful, free and fair polls.

“Without mincing words, Nigerians at the moment are passing through difficult economic and security challenges. The 2023 general election is a golden opportunity for us to restore the lost glory of our dear country, by participating fully in the voting process. Our participation should be devoid of violence. We should be law-abiding as we exercise our franchise in our various polling units,” the group said.

It enjoined Agbor people to toe the path of honour by supporting every effort aimed at achieving peaceful electoral process.

“We should not make the elections a do-or-die affair. Cast your vote for any candidate of your choice and do not stop others from exercising their franchise too. When we follow due process and adhere to the laid-down electoral rules, we will achieve success in the elections,” the group stated.
