Residents of Effurun in Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State, on Saturday defied the heaven downpour to participate in the presidential and national assembly elections. In most of the polling units monitored, voters showed enthusiasm to vote their new set of leaders unlike previous voters apathy which characterized previous elections.

In most of the polling units visited, exercise was very peaceful, and enthusiastic as voters were seen lamenting the late arrival of election materials. They said they were determined to vote against all odds.

Deputy Senate President and Delta governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, alongside his wife, voted. They voted at his home town, Orogun Ward 2, Unit 19 in Ughelli North Local Government of Delta State.

As at 11am, voting was yet to commenced in most areas . While at Orhunworon in Udu, Local Government Area,there was no machine. Also at Alegbor Primary school, voters were seen casting their votes inr the rain.

As at 5pm, voters were still waiting to vote at Okito Junction, Effurun ward 1, in Uvwie Local Government Area.
