The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Wednesday declared Alex Otti of the Labour Party winner of March 18 governorship election in Abia State.
INEC said Otti emerged winner after defeating his closest rival, Okey Ahiwe of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
The declaration of the results comes after what seemed like an endless squabble between the two leading political parties in the state governorship poll, the ruling PDP and the resurgent opposition Labour Party over controversial results from Obingwa Local Government Area.
