There is jubilation in Delta State following the Independent National Electoral Commission’s announcement of Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), as winner of the March 18 governorship election in the state.

Oborevwori defeated Senator Ovie Omo-Agege of the All Progressive Congress Party (APC), Kenneth Gbagi of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Ken Pela of the Labour Party (LP), Great Ogboru of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), and Immanuel Edijala of the People’s Redemption Party (PRP) to emerge victorious.

Large numbers and won twenty-one (21) local government in Delta State under the umbrella of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP.

Prof. Onuwari Georgewill, the INEC returning officer in Delta State, who announced the results at the INEC office in Asaba, said Oborevwori got a total 360,234 votes as against Omo-Agege’s 240,229 votes and Pela’s 48,047 votes.

Responding after the announcement, the state agent of the APC, Barrister Henry Efeduku, said the result was unacceptable to the party.

Efeduku advised APC faithful in the state not to take laws into their hands as the party would take all necessary legal steps to reclaim its mandate.
