…gears up for legal action

Candidate of the Labour Party in the just held presidential election, Peter Obi, has said his party won the election that was announced in favour of candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had announced Tinubu as winner of the February 25 presidential election whose outcome was marred with massive inconsistencies on the part of the electoral body.

Obi said he was going to approach the courts to upturn the declaration of Tinubu as winner of the election.

“We won the election and we will prove that we won it,” Mr Obi told a press conference in Abuja on Thursday. “”We will use every peaceful and legal options to reclaim our mandate.”

He urged all voters to come out en masse to cast their ballot in the coming governorship and state assembly elections.

“Be rest assured that your support will not be in vain,” he said, expressing strong belief in the judiciary to give him justice.

Mr Obi who came third place behind the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, said his administration will build a Nigeria that everyone will be proud to call their country.

He said by next week Wednesday when the court will start hearing the election petitions, he and his party would unveil the evidence before the court to prove that LP actually won the presidential 3lection.

“I will challenge this rascality for the future of the country. We will work in this darkness until day break,” Obi said while answering questions from journalists.

PDP’s Abubakar has also indicated interest to contest the outcome of the election process in court, alleging rigging of the process by the ruling APC.
