A middle-aged man has been burnt to death in Owa-Ekei community in Ika North East Local Government Area of Delta for allegedly stealing a motorcycle.

An eyewitness account has it that the deceased with his gang member now at large had allegedly snatched a motorcycle from someone at gunpoint and fled.

According to sources who craved condition of anonymity said, as the hoodlums were fleeing the owner of the bike started shouting for help and people ran after the thieves.

In the process, one of the passenger’s seats fell off the bike, and was apprehended by the people at the scene who were mostly youths.

It was gathered that after a series of attempts to get the alleged criminal identity as he was not with any phone or something for which he will be identified, the youths descended on him.

The suspect was beaten to a stupor before he was set ablaze by the irate crowd.

The attempt made by some security operatives to rescue the suspected hoodlum proved abortive as some persons who had been victims of such miscreants were bent on revenge.
