Some fans of Nigerian-born Grammy Award-winning singer Burna Boy (real name Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu) do not appear to be pacified by the apology tendered by the singer for the sudden cancellation of his GelreDome, Netherlands show.

Burna Boy, also known as African Giant, was scheduled to headline the Saturday late night show at the 41,000-capacity GelreDome Stadium, Arnhem, Netherlands.

The stadium is famous for hosting some Dutch and international artists including Rihanna, Madonna, The Rolling Stone, Shakira, Justin Timberlake, Lady Gaga, among others who electrified the venue with their awesome performances.

The stadium was reported to have been filled with fans from different locations hoping to catch the “Last Last” crooner perform, but they waited in vain.

Taking to his Instagram page hours later, Burna Boy apologized to fans that he couldn’t show up for the show, even though he really wanted to.

“I’m hurt that I couldn’t see you tonight even though I really wanted to. We want to make sure you get the best ‘love Damini’ experience possible and that wouldn’t have happened today for a number of reasons,” he posted.

Burna Boy further explained that his team had worked to make sure the show went on but couldn’t accomplish it in good time for the show to go on.

“I’ll be announcing a new date in a few hours so watch out for it,” he said.

The artiste was yet to announce a new date as at the time of filing this report.

But despite the apology, some fans lamented that Burna left them for hours without showing up, while others narrated how many were stranded and had to sleep at the train station because there was no available train at the time the show was cancelled.

“Burna Boy kept fans waiting for over 5 hours only to postpone his show in Netherland. This is really horrible,” a fan said.

Daniel Regha, a social media critic, reminded fans on Twitter how Burna Boy had done the same thing in January this year. He added that while Burna chose to apologise to the fans at Netherlands, he had made excuses and insulted people that criticise his showing up late at the Nigerian show in January.

“Burna quickly apologized to Netherland fans after failing to show up, but made excuses & insulted Nigerians who criticized him for coming late to his Lagos Concert held in January (2023). It goes to show how very little he thinks of Nigerians, his own people that made him famous,” Regha tweeted.
