The chairman of Aniocha North Local Government Council, Hon, Kevin Okwechime, has inaugurated the rehabilitated open market stalls at Onicha Ugbo as part of measures to boost commerce in the community.

The event was graced by his Royal Majesty, Obi Victor Chukwumalieze of the town and many prominent chiefs, including Chief Festus Mafiana, Iyase of the community, and Chief Ebi Odegah, the Okwelegwe, among other notable personalities.

In his remark, Obi Chukwumalieze commended Hon, Okwechime for his thoughtfulness to rehabilitate the daily market, and enjoined the traders to maintain the facility for longevity, stressing that trading in the market should not last beyond 4:30pm daily, after which the traders could move to the traditional market in the village for continuation.
High point of the brief ceremony was the presentation of Okwa Ocha hand woven wrapper to Hon, Okwechime and his wife, Nkem Okwechime.

In another development, continuous heavy downpour has brought about harrowing traffic gridlock at the ever-busy roundabout in Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State. The downpour has lasted for several days, worsening the already failed portion of the road around the roundabout.

Speaking to newsmen, Eferire Dorinda, a private car owner, stated that she had been in the traffic or hours with no traffic official to manage the situation.

Charles Udor, a commercial bus driver, expressed frustration over the hours wasted in the traffic jam, stating that the time he had spent in the holdup was enough to run four trips.

Commuters generally felt frustrated, plying the route and called on the state government and other relevant authorities to step in and safe them from the harrowing situation.
